Dick Sobielo’s 1960 Triumph TR3A “El Coqui’.

Dick Sobielo’s 1960 TR3A ‘El Coqui’
“When I bought my TR3A, it was obvious to me that it looked a lot like a little green frog. I like to name my cars, so I thought, what would be an appropriate name for a car that looked like a little green amphibian? I ruled out “Kermit” almost immediately. Then I remembered something my daughter told me after she had visited Puerto Rico a few years earlier. She told me about the little tree frogs they have there that make quite a racket at night. They can be very loud and raucous, but the people there love them and think of them as a cultural symbol of the island. They call them ‘Coqui’………..” Dick Sobielo
Empire Cup Race at Lime Rock – June 2nd, 2018
I had no intention of attending the Empire Cup event held recently at Lime Rock Park. I had lots of chores to do and the weather forecast was not the greatest. So about 7:30 in the morning I headed to the local deli for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Parked in front of the deli was a very nice vintage Alfa Romeo. I sat and talked to the driver who was on his way to Lime Rock Park to compete. Well that’s all it took for me to decide to skip the chores and head for the track. I’m glad I did. It turned out to be a sparkling day. Here are some photos……..Dick Sobielo.
VSCCA Track Day at Lime Rock Park – May 5, 2018
Recently ‘El Coqui’ and I drove to Lime Rock Park for VSCCA Track Day. What better way to welcome the warm sunshine of spring to the beautiful Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. It was a gorgeous day with temperatures in the low 60s. Perfect for racing.
Always on the lookout for Triumphs, It was a little disappointing to find out that there was only one Triumph in the field. But what a gem it was! Jacki Amarosa’s beautiful 1959 TR3A is always exciting to watch! Check out the photos below — Dick Sobielo.
