2019 Annual CTR Club vs CTMG Club Mini Golf Challenge

The annual golf competition between the Connecticut Triumph Club and the Connecticut MG Club was held on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the world-renowned Farmington Miniature Golf Course and Ice Cream Parlor. The weather was perfect for the championship.

This was one of the largest groups we have ever had for golfing.  We had a total of 19 golfers – eight from the Triumph Club and eleven from the MG Club. The MG club was represented by Phil, Pat, Matt and John. The Triumph Club was represented by Sam, Kimberly, Dan, Karen, Jay and Linda. We also had Sam and Kimberly’s son Conner and daughter Madelyn joining us for golfing.  There were 7 British cars, 6 MG’s and 1 Triumph, that made the journey to the golf course.

The competition between the clubs was fierce. There were some great shots and also some not so great shots, over the course of the competition. Most of the golfers were able to keep the ball on the hole they were golfing.  I don’t think anyone lost a ball this year, but there were a number of them that got a little wet on the water hole.

At the end of the round, the scores were tabulated to a high degree of precision. The eleven MG golfers averaged 63.9, ranging from 56 to 77. The six Triumph golfers averaged 55.0, ranging from 47 to 67, winning the Championship for the CT Triumph Register for the second year in a row. Jay, from CTR, had the low score of 47.  There were six hole in one’s shot.  Kathy with 2 and Dan, Karen, Phil and Jay with one each.

After we finished golfing, most of the golfers went to Jay and Linda’s house for hamburgers and hotdogs. Their house wasn’t far from the course and the drive to the house was over a nice twisty section of Old Farms Road.

Overall, it was a great day for golf, driving our British cars and fun with friends!
