British Motorcar Gathering and Picnic Turns 38!
By Janet Thomson, Chris and Christina Wilson
About 60 cars and accompanying participants came to Wickham Park on Sunday September 9th to enjoy CTR’s 38th Annual British Motorcar Gathering and Picnic. Wickham Park looked fabulous! Thanks go to park officials and rangers for making it possible for CTR to have a successful event.
Participants were able to buy CTR regalia, participate in raffles, and grab a hamburger or hot dog cooked up by the Boy Scout Troop 28 from Hebron.
This year, the event brought in some very distinctive and interesting British cars to look at. Here’s what one participant had to say in an email: “I just wanted you to know how much my wife and I enjoyed the British Motorcar Gathering yesterday. We liked everything – the cars, the people, the food, the way everything ran … it was a completely interesting and fun day. I even got to see a few cars like ones I used to own. The show made me regret that I never owned a Triumph!”
The Best of Show Triumph based on participants’ choice voting went to a beautiful 1973 TR6 owned by Rick Barnard.
Tom and Sue Stavola took the honors for Best of Show Non-Triumph with their 1958 Jaguar Mk8.
Young Exhibitor Awards were presented to Sean McFadden and Molly Laird. Sean accompanied his grandfather in an Austin Healey. Grandad is teaching Sean how to drive it. Molly is spending quality time with Dad getting her hands dirty under the hood of a TR4. Both will receive a one year subscription to Classic Motorsports.
This event would not have been possible without the many CTR members who stepped up and volunteered their time on the day of the event as well as the months leading up to the event:
